I'm not sure how many cookies it takes to feel happy, but so far its not 27...

Turns out, it might actually only take one! Studies have shown that biting into a warm delicious cookie can lower cortisol and increase dopamine (the happiness hormone) in the brain!

"In a study by Blanchflower, they measured the participants’ blood pressure, which indicates a state of relaxation, before and after cookie consumption. The research discovered lowered cortisol levels, which indicates that stress is also lowered after cookie consumption. The heart rate was notably reduced which is a further sign of cookie consumption having a positive impact on wellbeing and mood.

The research also shows the ‘Mmmm’ effect from eating delicious food actively reduces stress levels by affecting dopamine levels on the 5-HT1A (receptors that are found in regions of the brain that are implicated in the control of mood and memory)." Caroline explains, “The food memories and the full experience engage more sensors than other memories so when you’re that thoroughly engaged in the moment, it has a more powerful effect.
A lot of our memories are about not just the food but the whole experience of being a family, being nourished. All of which increases happiness and reduces our stress levels.”

Our sense of smell also plays a huge role in relaxation and reducing stress.

"The limbic system is the emotional center of our brain and plays a crucial role in processing emotions, memories, and moods. When the olfactory system detects a scent, it sends signals to the limbic system, which then elicits an emotional response based on our past experiences and associations with that 13806222 © Vladimir Mucibabic | Dreamstime.com particular smell. This powerful

connection between scents and emotions allows fragrances to influence our mood in various ways. Certain scents can stimulate the release of neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins, which contribute to feelings of happiness and relaxation."
